When
the New York State Automobile Dealers Association (NYSADA) was looking
to automate its membership, automobile title registration, and worker
compensation insurance programs in 1991, it turned to Alexander
Associates for a turn-key, custom system. This system was so effective
that it was not until 1999, when forced by the Y2K technology changeover,
that NYSADA sought to replace it. After experimenting with several
off-the-shelf, PC-based systems, NYSADA once again turned to Alexander
Associates to provide a database-driven system that was tailored
to NYSADA's unique requirements. Today NYSADA operates with the
latest generation of custom database software, designed and built
by Alexander Associates.
Diane
Rivers, NYSADA Controller, relates:
"Alexander
Associates designed and built our original applications well,
so well that they lasted almost a decade before we felt that we
needed replacements. And with our newest generation of applications,
Alexander Associates is again doing an extraordinary job of listening
to our needs, and creating solutions that raise the level of service
we can provide to our members. To top it off, Alexander Associates
is doing it on-time and within budget."

processing, and workers compensation tracking.
Project
History
The
New York State Automobile Dealers Association (NYSADA) provides
various membership services to over 1,100 dealers of new cars and
trucks in the Empire State, including:
- lobbying
and public relations
- group
health, life, disability insurance, etc.
- automobile
title services including duplicate titles, background checks,
etc.
- the
largest workers compensation plan available to NYS auto
dealers
- a
marketing service division providing advertising, forms, specialty
clothing, etc.
- newsletters,
and other informative publications covering political, economic
and environmental issues affecting NYS new auto and truck dealers.
Beginning
in 2001, Alexander Associates designed and developed new workers
compensation, duplicate-titles, and membership applications for
NYSADA. (Some of the same Alexander Associates staff that implemented
these systems a decade before on a mini-computer are involved on
these new projects today.) Diane Rivers, NYSADA Controller, reports
that the new systems have "come
on-line without a hitch, on-time and under budget. The data conversion
from our old systems to the new was very smooth. Our users are very
happy."
